How is soda cleaning of teeth done?
Soda cleaning uses a device similar to a pressure washer, where water and air pressure are combined with a powder, such as soda.
Before the actual procedure, a guard is placed over your mouth to hold your mouth open and gently turn your lips out of the way. A soda cleaner then blows water, air and soda onto your teeth to remove biofilm, external plaque and stains from the surface of your teeth.
The procedure is quite quick, often well under half an hour.
Soda cleaning doesn’t hurt, but you may feel a slight tingling sensation in your gums and tongue. Our professional oral hygienist will make sure that the procedure is as comfortable as possible for you.
Soda or powder cleansing can be done safely with coarse powder 2-3 times a year. With fine powder, the procedure can be done even more often.
